PPC24: Purple Rain

So…

in our last post I showed you a bag that I totally had FUN making, and every once in a while it’s nice to cut loose and make something that’s just for fun, right? But now we only have one more sample to make after this one and then it’s time to choose one of these bags to grace our pattern cover!

That means… it’s time to get SERIOUS!

Now if there’s one thing I’ve noticed the longer this Pandemic goes on, it’s how HARD it is to find new and interesting fabrics! And as a pattern designer, this has made MY job all the harder, since I normally depend on fabrics as a major inspiration for my designs!
Once again, I stabilized the woven fabric with a layer of Bosal Fashion Fuse PRIOR to doing any cutting to keep the fraying in check and then went about making up the back as usual.
This wider opening gives you convenient access to the card slots. This design features eight separate slots for credit or loyalty cards.
and while the larger back storage area is a bit difficult to photograph, the picture above will show you that it can easily safely accommodate an iPad Air as well as many other items, including our new baglight which can light up the interior and make things easy to find!

The Gemini FlightBag is 9″ wide by 10.5 ” tall by 3.5″ and should be available for purchase sometime in mid-March! We can’t wait to show you more!

And now, it’s YOUR turn!

We only have one more sample to show you before the all-important post where we ask you to help us choose the ONE sample to feature on the pattern cover for this design. So do stay tuned for the next post in this series after which we’ll ask you to make YOUR choice!

And remember, we love reading your comments and answering your questions too, so please feel free to leave either or both in the space provided below.

Wow!! Just wow wow wow!!! Love everything about this pattern and that fabric just is luscious!! Maybe after the pattern is released, a tutorial on how you stabilized the woven? So far this has my vote for cover pattern, and I thought it couldn’t get any cuter than the watermelon purse!

Oh I can tell you now… I stabilized the woven by prefusing a light interfacing (I used Bosal Fashion Fuse) to it PRIOR to cutting. It worked well. 🙂

make sure you stabilize your woven fabric b4 cutting you pieces. I found these textiles to be very satisfying to work with. I hope you do too! 🙂

The Panamanian fabric reminds me of some Guatemalan fabric I had and loved many years ago! Too bad I don’t still have some! The interior fabric intrigues me because it has the look of eyelet or lace! You’ve selected a fun combination of fabrics for this sample!

Thanks Beth! I have enjoyed these two forays with the woven fabric! 🙂

Is it possible to obtain the fabric that is use to protect credit card from copied in your purse. I would like it sew in th purse credit card area ..

They do make fabric for this purpose although we do not sell it on our website. If you google for RFID fabric I think you’ll find that it is plentiful. Another product that works just as well however is household aluminum foil. (Just a suggestion but the choice is yours of course! 🙂

Love this bag and the fabric choice! Getting my second shot on the 20th and then at the end of April going to Florida with my daughter for a couple days at Disney World and to visit a friend. This looks like the perfect bag for my reintroduction to the world. Plenty of room for the still essential masks and anything else I might need. I really like the built in wallet complete with card slots.
