PPC30: BioGeo

So…

a couple of weeks ago I posted this picture (at left) on Instagram, soliciting advice on “which of our zippers would be best to pair with this amazing fabric (by Adrienne Leban for Free Spirit Fabrics), and I have to say the opinions were pretty much fairly split between all 3 options.

So which zipper did I choose?

So… here you can see that I chose the black & white striped zip, but I think either of the two either zippers would’ve worked as well. My reasoning was that given how busy this fabric is, I was more interested in the zipper enhancing the print rather than taking a chance on it becoming it’s own focal point. I’m happy with this look!

Here’s a couple of side looks & an overhead look at this sample. Since there really isnt a way to use a contrasting fabric on the exterior of this design, I’ve found that by choosing a fabric that INCLUDES a significant area of contrast can accomplish the same end.
(It worked out well for our last sample as well.)

Here’s a good INSIDE the front pouch area where there’s room to store both my standard sized wallet as well as a full-sized eye glass case. I like how light-weight this bag is to carry as well as how easy it is to access the items in this pouch when I carry it both shoulder style and as a cross-body bag.

I deliberately kept the back side of this bag zipper and pocket free as I didnt want to add any additional bulk and because of the nice, deep, zippered pocket at the bag top area.

I see this design as being a great alternative for those who are looking for a lightweight, minimalist bag for everyday usage, or travelers who are looking for a crossbody option that can be carried safely & close to the body. It easily accommodates larger smart phone styles along with other daily essentials.

This is my second time using this fabric because I find it SO different and intriguing. Unfortunately, the last time I used it, it was for a very early prototype that just didnt work out, but since I loved the fabric, I just HAD to use it again! It’s called “BioGeo” and its from Free Spirit Fabrics.

And finally, I’m pleased to announce that
we’ve settled on a name for this design, it’ll be called…

the Tandem DayPack

So now it’s YOUR turn…
