PPC31: Wings of Gold… a Remake

So… turns out I’ve had a blast re-imagining some of the samples I made during the runup to the High Seas Convertible pattern release and this make the 4th such remake we’ve created…but all good things must come to an end and this remake will sadly be the last for quite some time.

And as mentioned in a previous post, I’ll be selling some of my samples at the upcoming Fall Quilt Market (along with a dozen patterns per sample) with the goal that the store owner will go home to her shop w/a beautiful designer-made sample in hand & immediately be in a position to sell patterns, and/or schedule classes, without having to make a sample, or to pay someone to make one for her! Which makes this program a WIN-WIN for both the store owner, AND for us!

But I digress! The purpose of this exercise is to create a bag that’s similar to the original, yet different by substituting a contrasting fabric from my stash!

And I have to say, I LOVE getting a chance to show you how one small change can make such a HUGE difference in the overall look & vibe of a bag!

And this bag most CERTAINLY has distinctly different character than the original!

And what I want to know is… Which bag do you like better?
I’ll let YOU decide, but first… a closer look at the two bags… SIDE BY SIDE!

So… in the photos above, the original bag we created in the runup to the High Seas Convertible release is on the left in both of these photographs, (with the royal blue contrast), and the remake of this bag is on the right in both photos, (with the yellow-dotted contrast).

So… Which one do YOU prefer?

I sure would like to know which bag is YOUR favorite, so please, if you feel so inclined, do indicate your preference in the comments below. (Keep in mind, I’m happy with both of these bags, so you won’t hurt my feelings either way!) And DO stay tuned for the next installment of “Purse Pattern Chronicles” when we’ll start the slow reveal of what will be our next new pattern, probably released in early 2025!

Hardest choice yet. Both are lovely. I’d just have to go with my mind as I went out the door.
