PPC33: the Sketch & the Prototype

So…

it’s time for a new start… a brand new pattern for Fall of 2025. This is my favorite time… when everything is new, & all things are still possible.

My thoughts for this new pattern are that it might be time for a bag that revolves around a cellphone. After all, there’s so many venues now that restrict entry with a purse of any kind. Some venues insist on an clear plastic purse or bag, but you know what? I despise having to carry a bag made of clear plastic. Oh, I understand the reasoning behind it, but I just find it offensive. (Can YOU identify with this?)

But there are still are a few venues that will allow a small bag, say 9″ X 5″ or so…just big enough for a cellphone, a key fob, a wallet & perhaps a few cosmetics. It also occurs to me that this this would be a perfect airport bag, or travel companion!

So initially, my thinking this time is that the design of this bag will revolve around a cellphone, something that everyone wants to have with them pretty much at ALL times, regardless of where we’re going or what we’re doing, so….

this is where our journey begins this time!

So, let me show you around our 1st prototype!

At left above: the Bag Front featuring a roomy cellphone pouch, guaranteed to accommodate ANY phone on the market right now! I included a uniquely shaped closure with an invisible magnetic snap closure. 🙂

At right above; the Bag Back where I decided to include an additional drop-in pocket w/an invisible magnetic snap closure… the perfect place to store that all-important key fob, passport, or boarding pass!

As you can see in this picture at left, this bag is quite slim… about as wide as a #5 zipper. My standard sized wallet fits in here just fine, but leaves very little room for anything else.

And although I’m pretty happy with how this prototype turned out, I’m thinking that perhaps I’d like to make this zippered compartment just a bit wider… maybe like 3/4″ wider. My thinking is that the extra width could potentially accommodate a couple extra small cosmetic items, or a pair of reading glasses.
