PPC30: Obrigada (Thank You) Brazil

A colorful purse sitting on top of a chair.

So…

I ran into a new fabric vendor from Brazil at the 2023 International Quilt Market and totally fell in love with the fabrics he was peddling, which featured saturated colors & vibrant prints.

I thought to myself…

How perfect these fabrics would look on my new design!

Here’s a good look at the Bag Front (at left above) and the Bag Back (at right above). The mish-mash of color just seems to work so perfectly with this design as well as with the black/gold zippers we chose to use!

So there’s TWO zippered compartments in the Tandem DayPack. There’s a generous puff pocket with an angled zippered lid. I can fit my full-sized wallet in here ALONG WITH my standard-sized eye glass case. there’s even room at the thinner bottom edge of this pouch for a lipstick and a key fob.

Since I’ve never been know for carrying large, “everything-but-the-kitchen-sink” type bags, so this minimalistic bag is right up my alley. It can be carried as a standard shoulder bag, but is especially effective carried cross-body style (which I favor)!

And now a couple of parting shots…
First at left: An overhead shot of the angled “lid” of the Zippered Pouch, AND the thinner, zippered pocket on the back area of this bag, which is perfect for storing your phone, a pen or two and other thinner items you might be carrying!
And at right: a full-frontal view of our new pattern, the Tandem DayPack

I was immediately impressed with this fabric. The saturated colors & the silky finish was amazing! (and check out the hombre effect on the contrast fabric, at bottom left!)

I would LOVE to carry some of it in our online shop, but alas, shipping from Brazil can be oh-so complicated!

And finally… here’s some particulars about the Tandem DayPack!

  • Size- 8.5″ X 6.5″ X 2.5″
  • Projected Release Date- hopefully in mid-February (fingers crossed)

And now, it’s YOUR turn!

We are very close now to the finish line on this design, but my question to you is… does this bag seem like one you might enjoy carrying? Wow, this bag really sings with big, bold, patterned fabric – your last three blogs prove it. It’s the perfect use for something in one’s stash that has always been just too much for any other project. And I love the size, too.

Thank you Mary! I tend to agree with you. I was afraid a bold print would overwhelm this design, but it doesn’t! 🙂
