PPC23: Gilded Tiles

So…

now that I’ve got three of these samples under my belt, I feel like I finally have a good idea of how I want to use my fabric to best advantage! Funny how some bags just take a while to “get to know”, right?

Anyway, I saw this fabric online and instantly fell in love with it! It looked SO lush and rich and since I needed several coordinating fabrics for this project it was nice that this collection has so much to offer… but I’ll tell you more about this fabric (which we’ll soon have in our online store) at the end of the post!

But you know what? I never considered what zipper I would use with this fabric until it arrived in the mail and then I thought, “Oh Crap! Nothing I have really works with this!” But the more I pondered this, the more I thought… “Well who says a black zipper wont’t work here?” And I think it looks fabulous with it! I don’t really notice the black! Maybe its because the gold in the zipper gives off just enough flash?
And here’s a first for us! This is actually the very 1st bag we’ve designed with a dedicated water bottle pocket! We get a LOT of requests for this feature and this seemed like the perfect opportunity!
And here’s a good look at the opposite side of this bag and no… the way I set up this Flap area, it really didn’t “require” the addition of trim around the Flap area but I added it anyway and I’m glad I did. I think it adds a little extra oomph, don’t you?

And of course the most exciting feature in this new design is the “bag within a bag” zippered pocket! It’s a full-height & width PLUS its padded, so its a perfect hiding place for an iPad, kindle or anything else you might want to carry in a concealed manner! (You can see mu iPad Air in the pocket in the above right picture.)

And of course there’s LOTS of ways to carry this bag and I find that its totally comfortable no matter how I’m carrying it. The ergonomic design molds to the body and its great to be handsfree in such a beautiful way!
