So… in our last post I gave you a tour of our prototype sample for what will soon be our next new pattern!
And as you might recall… I was fairly happy with that Gorilla sample I made, but there were some notable problems that I deemed necessary to improve upon in this round.
So… here’s a trio of shots of this Bag Front where surely you will notice that the top corners of the Front Pouch, now line up perfectly w/the top corners of the side Expanders. This is a much more pleasing look as far as I’m concerned, but there’s still an adequate amount of the contrasting Bag Front visible behind the Pouch to make the Bag Front interesting!
And here’s a couple of looks at the Bag Back & the zippered pocket we’ve added there. This is the perfect spot to store your key fob, your lipstick, or anything else you’d like to have quick access to! You might also notice the unique way we’ve set this bag up to be carried as a shoulder bag (as shown) with D-rings held in place by contrast-covered webbing pieces, but also as a Sling Bag and as a traditional Back Pack, by simply changing the Strap connections !
I find this bag to be an excellent, if not a perfect shoulder bag! Plenty roomy for all of my daily stuff!
And here, by simply moving one snaphook to top center & the other to one side, this becomes a perfect one-armed sling bag… perfectly centered at mid-body for easy access to all of your stuff, while being totally handsfree!
And finally, by hooking both straps to the top D-ring AND a side D-ring, you have yourself a backpack! (I know… these backpack straps don’t match, but I’ll remedy that in a future post, but for right now I just wanted to show you this feature!)
And finally, I included this picture to give you a closer look at the new way we’re securing & placing the D-rings that allow for the versatility that this bag affords… one at the top, two on the bag side edges, & two near the bottom of the bag back edges. All one has to do to transform this bag from a sling bag to a true backpack is to create a 2nd strap. Easy, schmeasy!
So… in conclusion, I’m REALLY happy with how this sample turned out. I did include an interior zippered pocket in this sample, but, I feel it’s situated way too low, so not only would be difficult for easy access, but it’s also near impossible to photograph, so hence, it’s not pictured here! I’ll fix this on the next sample, so do stay tuned for that?
