PPC34: Butterfly Wings

smppc34wingsFront1

So... it seems like its been such a LONG time since I was able to get back in the saddle & back to work on this new design... what with the time it took to get caught up from Quilt Market & Festival in Houston, and the fact that I came home with a significant back problem that's limited by mobility (looks like surgery is in my future sometime in January, if not sooner).

But it sure was a happy day when I pulled this fabric out of my stash & started sewing up this sample! (More about this yummy fabric at the end of this post.)

So here's a shoulder bag with a "big-time secret"! I can actually carry everything I do on most days with this bag configured as in the picture at left. I love how it looks with the bag fully zipped, with those fun zipper pulls dangling down under! But of course I can always open that zipper & pick up a good deal of extra storage space for a special outing!

Here's another look from a "lower angle" at this expandable area. I think you get a better idea of the extra space you gain at this viewpoint.

at left- a straight-on look at the Bag Front

at right- here's the Bag Back, which doesn't look a whole lot different that than the Bag Front, right? (I was lucky & JUST happened to have a piece of gold fabric that was the EXACT shade of gold as my zipper!)

An interior view-   we featured one zippered pocket on the interior, but of course an determined sewist could include one on the other side if they so desired!

And now, a word or two about this superfun fabric!

It's called "Packed Butterfly Wings" & was designed by one of my favorites, Chong-A Hwang for Timeless Treasures. I paired it with a very cool purple/blue batik w/pinkish dots.

This fabric was a joy to work with,
and it was kinda fun not having to worry about fussy-cutting for a change!

And here's the fun part- if you also like this fabric duo,
you can pick up some for your next project on this website by clicking HERE!

And now.... it's YOUR turn!

But first--- here's some important info you'll be asking for, like

Bag Dimensions- 9"h X 10.5"w X 1.25" closed or 3.5" expanded

Expected Release Date-mid January 2026

And if you have comments you'd like to share, suggestions you'd like to make, or questions you'd like to ask about this design in general or this sample in specific, please feel free to leave either or both in the space provided below.
