So…
the bag pattern I’m currently working on, the Cignet Phone Pal, is perfect for a vertically-centered design! And when I saw this fabric online, it seemed tailor-made for my pattern! The only thing is— when the fabric arrived, it wasn’t quite what I needed. You see, there are two sized panels done in repeat on this fabric, and I had hoped to use the wider of the two for the exterior front of my Cignet. But once I started working, it became obvious that the main panel just wasn’t quite wide enough to use for the Bag Front without some of the vertical stripe ALSO being visible on either side, and this was NOT at all what I had in mind!
But you know what? When I’m really invested in a particular fabric, I’m not afraid to try manipulating it, and even “re-fabricating” my way to a fabric that eventually WILL work for my project!
Let Me Show You What I Have in Mind for THIS fabric!
So… in order to use this fabric for my new bag design, & having identified the areas of this fabric that need to “re-fabricated” in this video, (which also involves some fussy-cutting), please stay tuned for the next post in this series when I SHOW you how I plan on fussy-cutting my way to an exterior fabric that is PERFECT for the Cignet Phone Pal my next new pattern!
And now…. it’s YOUR turn!
Do you have an interest in re-fabricating & fussy-cutting fabrics so that they can be used for the project you’re working on?
If so, I’d love to hear any comments you’d like to share, suggestions you’d like to make, or questions you’d like to ask about this idea… so please feel free to leave either or both in the space provided below.
