So… we’ll be trying something new at the 2024 Fall International Quilt Market, which has been recommended to me for several years by good friend & fellow vendor, (Carol McCleod of Auntie’s Two Patterns). Carol’s been encouraging me to sell some of my samples at the Quilt Market (along with a dozen patterns for each sample) for quite some time! Her theory is… the store owner can return to her shop with a professionally-made sample in hand and be immediately in position to sell those patterns and/or schedule classes! There’s no need for her to make a sample herself or to pay someone to make it for her! Which makes this program a WIN-WIN for both the store owner AND for us!
So… just for kicks, and to make this a little bit more exciting and fun, (and also because I dislike making the same exact sample twice), I thought maybe I’d reuse SOME of the fabrics I used in the runup to the High Seas Convertible pattern release, but then add a twist, by adding something NEW, to create a different look!
In this case, the change I made on the original bag (which is our “cover bag” at left in the picture at left), is that I substituted a red polka-dot contrast for the black & white pinstripe. (I also used our translucent zippers to give provide a peek at the lime green interior!
So the question is…which High Seas Convertible do YOU like better… the original striped bag or the new red-polka-dot?
I’ll Let YOU Decide,
but First… a Closer Look at the NEW bag!

So… Wasn’t this fun?
Which of these samples is YOUR personal favorite! Isn’t it amazing how one little change ;like this can totally change the “feel” of a project? I sure would like to know which bag you favor, so please, if you feel so inclined, do indicate your preference in the comments below. (Keep in mind, I’m happy with both of these bags, so you won’t hurt my feelings either way!) And DO stay tuned for the next post in this series when we do a “remake” of our “Color & Light” sample!

While I like the black and white stripes, I like the red polka dot fabric more. I think it makes the main fabric stand out more.
I like them both, but I think you may be right about the red fabric! 🙂
I whole heartedly agree with you. And I really like the translucent zipper too!
I prefer the black and white, and especially the striped zip!
I love that one too!
