So...
at this point, this design is set, the pattern pieces are set, the testing packages are in the hands of our very able & competent testers & even the NAME for this design has been set…
So why are we still making samples?
First of all… I’m going to try something new with my samples at the Quilt Market in October (as recommended to me by a very dear friend & fellow vendor). I’ll tell you more about this idea very soon, but I figure I need to make 2-3 more samples than I normally do in order to make this new idea work for me.
And 2nd of all… I fell in LOVE with this paisley fabric. (I’ve always been a sucker for a good, old fashioned paisley!) I’ll tell you much more about this fabric at the end of this post, but first let’s talk about this sample!
Here’s some good side views of this sample and I like how our purple contrast fabric distinctly outlines the front pouch area and the main entry zipper area. This bag is lightweight and can pretty much carry any and all of your daily supplies, including even a small foldup umbrella!
But my favorite thing about this new design (the High Seas Convertible) is how easy it is to change how the straps connect to the D-rings, to carry it any of THREE ways, and you know what? It looks completely natural in any of the three configurations! It’s lightweight and comfortable and one can pack a remarkable amount of “stuff” into this bag!
SO in closing I REALLY love this fabric. The colors are right up my alley, paisley is ALWAYS in vogue with me, and just LOOK who totally wonderful this fabric works with my new tweed zippers with multi color zipper teeth. It’s like they were created to be placed in the same project! The purple & gold coordinate I used here are NOT part of the same collection, although I can’t imagine a better coordinate.
The Paisley fabric – is called “Shangri-La“, and it’s by Painted Sky Studio for Benartex. The purple and gold contrast is called “Midas Touch” by Deborah Edwards & Melanie Samra for Northcott Fabrics.
The Paisley Shangri-La fabric is available on our Fabrics page. Just click HERE to check it out or to pick up a package for YOUR next project. (Unfortunately I’m not able to have access to fabrics sold by Northcott Fabrics.)

Thank you so much! Me too! I’m excited for this release!

Just – WOW. And yes, that zipper and fabric are soul mates.
I love that… about the zipper and the fabric! Thanks Mary!
It is such a great size. I’m hoping for a July release because I really want to make this one in time for my September vacation! It sounds like a great bag for a trip!
It’s probably going to be August, but do private message me near the end of July, because I might can get it to you in time for your vacay! 🙂
Thank you!
I am soooo excited about this pattern!! Please please please get it out soon!! It is gorgeous!
Thank you so much for your kind words, and I’m excited for the release as well! 🙂
This is absolutely gorgeous Kat! While I adore both the Outbreaker and the Sling-A-Long this combines some of the best of both. I need to think about the size since I see that my usual bullet journals should fit – potentially also with my wallet….
I put my comments and a picture on your Facebook post Jodie! Hope that is helpful! 🙂
Such a beautiful bag Kat : )) Will it be available in PDF format?
Glad you like it Pam, but no, we do not distribute our full-sized bag patterns in pdf format.
🙂
