PPC31: Flowering Stripes

So…

when I came across this fabric on the Checker Distributor site, I felt an almost visceral attraction to it. I loved it immediately and also knew right away that I would be pairing it with a black & white striped fabric!

It wasn’t until it arrived from UPS and was sitting on my cutting table for a few days that I suddenly recalled WHY I had such a strong & positive reaction to it!

I think it’s strangely reminiscent of our Quattro Cover bag!

This Quattro (at left) featuring Alexander Henry fabric and graces the pattern cover of one of the most popular patterns of all time for us, and remains one of my all-time favorite bag samples. I loved everything about it then, AND I still love it now! I could never sell it, give it away or even carry it myself for fear of ruining it! But it didn’t dawn on me how this new fabric had such a similar color scheme until it was almost completed and, EUREKA!I SAW IT! No wonder I fell immediately in love with this fabric! You can find much more specifics about this fabric at the end of this post, but in the mean time, let me tell you more about this new sample!

And here’s a side-by-side look at both the front and the unique backside of this design.
It’s the placement of these D-ring (5 of them) that allows it to be carried multiple ways!

And speaking of carrying styles…
it’s SO easy to switch from a one-armed sling bag (at far left),
to a classic shoulder bag (at center),
and even to a true backpack (by adding a 2nd strap).

And here’s a couple shots of the zippered bag entry and interior.
In the photo at left, you can see that my wallet is placed inside the bag “on end”.
I kinda like it that way because it frees up more space in the bottom of bag for other important essentials.
