AQS Paducah’24: the Quilts

So… the competition quilts at the AQS Paducah show this year were definitely a sight to behold!
It was a marvelous collection and I had an extremely hard time narrowing down my photos
to my “Best Eight”, but here… they are in no particular order.

(And if you’d like to see a closeup of any or all of these beauties, just click on that quilt!)

Color Splash Garden” created by Karen Kay Buckley of Carlisle, PA
I loved the subtle color progression of this quilt, all rich and saturated.

Subtle Reflections” created by Laurie Tigner of Rapid City, SD
tThe exquisite applique work was what I liked the best here,
much of it was that puffy kind of applique!

Challenge” created by Sylwia Ignatowska of Polkarpacie, Poland
Believe it or not, this quilt was accomplished ENTIRELY with embroidered stitching…
absolutely NO patchwork and it was fascinating!

Serenity” created by Molly Hamilton-McNally of Coto de Caza, CA
The quiltwork REALLY emphasized the beauty of this quilt top!
DO click on the picture and elarge this photo to take it all in!

Orange Appeal” created by Kim Fong of Taylorsville, KY
Thhis traditional quilt was beautiful but I had a whole new appreciation when I
got closeup and saw the intricate “yo-yo’s” in the outside border and the amazing, detailed scalloped border!

Blooming Midsummer Flowers” created by Noriko Nozama of Chiba, Japan
I loved this quilt from the moment I spied it across the room.
I especially admired the “raggedy border done completely in needlework.

Witchcraft” created by Kyoko Ochiai
And I find this quilt totally yummy! If I had the skilz, I would aspire to create something along these lines.
It might just be my favorite!

Electric Snails” created by Caryl Bryer Fallert-Gentry
You know, there have been very few quilt shows where I didn’t see a quilt by this Caryl.
Furthermore, her quilts seem to always be in the top ecshalon of all those entered! She’s amazingly prolific!

And now, it’s YOUR turn!

I’d love to know which of these quilts you would pick as YOUR favorite?
